Meet the Team

Behind every successful project at Cenelec Standards Inspections is a team of skilled, dedicated professionals bringing expertise, dedication, and a hands-on approach to hazardous area compliance, training, and inspection services worldwide. Our people offer a unique mix of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives — from newly qualified apprentices eager to learn, to seasoned professionals now passing on their knowledge as instructors in our CompEx training centre. Every member of the CSI team is selected and developed to meet the most stringent client and industry requirements, united by a shared commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

Jonathan-Gibson---CSI
Jonathan Gibson is the Managing Director of CSI having joined in 1992 and has been leading the company in his current role since 2008. Building on the foundations established by his father, he has overseen the company’s growth into a globally recognised specialist in hazardous area inspection, installation, maintenance, classification and training, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and client relationships. Jonathan has built a very robust, dynamic, driven, loyal management team that is reflected in its local and global success.

Steven Turner is the Technical Director at Cenelec and has been in the role since 2018, a former Electrical Engineer at the BP Coryton Oil Refinery, Steven initially joined Cenelec in 2010 leading Inspection teams across variable industry with a global reach covering Gas, Vapour and Combustible Dust Areas, a progression to Project Manager and further advancement to Technical Director is a demonstration of his competence and value to the Company.

Martin Parry was recruited back in 2014 and is a key contributor supporting the business as a Project Manager, Senior E&I Inspector and CompEx Assessor. Martin Manages extensive volumes of Project work with an infectious ‘can do’, disciplined attitude emanating from his Navy background and is well respected within the organisation. Martin covers activity across both Electrical and Mechanical disciplines.

Anth Gibson is new to the business in 2025 joining as a Project Manager, however his cousin Jonathan is well aware of his capabilities, intelligence, vast experience and competence possessing a wealth of Electrical knowledge, a strong focus on the service provisions of inspection and testing, installation and maintenance, hazardous and non-hazardous areas ensures a bright future ahead with CSI Ltd.

Ian Middleton joined the company in 2010 with a very strong IT background which is invaluable to the business as the company progressed to handheld technology to carry out core business activities such as Inspection and Maintenance through a certified tablet for use in Hazardous Areas. Ian possesses an incredible capacity for continuous development and proceeded to gain CompEx approved EX01-06 and EX14 status. Ian is a Project Manager and is a key valued member of the team looking after some significantly large client accounts.

Paul-Thompson---CSI
Paul Thompson joined the company as a teenager in 2003 and has been a mainstay member of staff for over 22 years. Developing to his current role of Project and QA Manager, Paul has a strong IT capability with a fastidious approach to Quality Assurance and meticulous focus on reporting deliverables. NEBOSH and CompEx EX14 qualified, paul has a cemented place at the core of everything we do.

Lee has been with Cenelec since 2012 starting as a CompEx Inspector, progressing to a Senior Inspector to the current day, managing a team of 12+ on a major client site. Throughout the last 14 years Lee has demonstrated a truly remarkable level of dependable company service, vast experience and a unique ability to identify business development opportunities.

Tania Bone has been with Cenelec for over 15 years having initially started as the Company Secretary, demonstrating over a prolonged period that she possesses the drive, determination and commitment to succeed. A promotion to Training Centre Manager in 2020 ensued with a task for a 5-year growth plan which she met with aplomb ensuring the continuation of the Training Centre growth, which show no signs of slowing down with a CAPEX budget approval to open up mechanical Training EX11 in 2026.

Alan Turner is the company’s primary lecturer with an extensive knowledge base of ATEX Directives and DSEAR (Dangerous Substance Explosive Atmospheres), Alan started his Cenelec career back in the year 2000 carrying out Inspections across all industry. Alan retired from field works and jumped at an opportunity to pass on his vast knowledge in the classroom delivering a range of CompEx courses with a high pass rate for delegates attending his course deliverables he is an exceptionally well respected member of our team.

Simon has played a significant role in well over a decade of support to the company as a multi disciplined Inspector which has seen him cover Projects all over the globe including hostile environment. Electrically qualified as a CompEx 01-06, as well as Mechanical to EX11 and Responsible persons EX14 his thirst for knowledge has seen him now a fully qualified lecturer on all the pre mentioned CompEx courses. Simon is unique in his collection of core competences.

Steve Bell is the company’s primary assessor for Electrical course deliverables providing invaluable support to the growth and success of the Training Centre. Steve is one of the ‘originals’ from the Cenelec team, joining the company in 1996 as a field Inspector which extended to over 20 years, an exceptional quality of service throughout his time and loyalty to boot, Steve moved into assessing delegates within the practical bays in the twilight of his career, an exceptionally well liked and respected member of our team.

Ian Young is the company financial administrator with a background as a former Lloyds Bank Manager for Cenelec Standards! that positive relationship enabled a switch to Cenelec 10 years ago. Ian is a very important part of the team at Cenelec and offers exceptional experienced service at the heart of a very busy team.
